Testimonials

Having joined from university, I have found that AVEVA offers everything I could have hoped for in a graduate job. The environment is both welcoming and professional, while the people have been helpful and friendly. I have been given time to settle in and I have gradually been given more involved tasks to complete as my domain knowledge improves.

I’ve found AVEVA to be a very welcoming and friendly organisation, and it’s also enjoyable to be part of a successful, growing company. As well as working on a number of different projects, training has been provided as required; during my first year I spent over four weeks on training courses.

My role as graduate applications engineer has involved the design and development of different components of the VPD (VANTAGE Plant Design) software. I have worked on varying projects in teams consisting of people from both my home office (Chesterfield) and Cambridge.

I’ve enjoyed my first year as, from the very start, I’ve been working on real projects with a good bunch of people, and also, being based at the Chesterfield office, I’ve been able to live in the Peak District which is ideal as I’m a bit of an outdoor enthusiast.

When I joined AVEVA I didn’t know many people in Cambridge, so the first few weeks were great because I made so many friends – there were three of us in my starting group. I enjoyed travelling to the company offices in Chesterfield and Solent for training. This also allowed me to meet other staff with similar goals. Although there are great opportunities to take on big responsibilities quickly, there was a lot to learn.

Coming from an IT background, I was unsure of what I wanted to do in the IT sector; I was looking for a graduate scheme that would give me flexibility and a broad range of experience. Since joining AVEVA, I have worked with a huge variety of people. Being a member of the Design group, I get to work with clients in all the operating groups. I am currently involved in development of solutions for HHI (Hyundai Heavy Industries) and Shell. These projects are both ongoing and I can’t wait to learn more techniques every day.

The major thing that hits me every day is working with similarly-minded, bright individuals. In addition, I have always been made to feel welcome and part of a bigger team, which has given me the confidence to do things I would otherwise have been cautious to approach. There are challenges – lots of early mornings and late nights, because I communicate with people in different time zones. It soon sinks in that business operates globally, when you’re working with people from so many different countries.
