History

AVEVA's consistent growth has spanned five decades*, during which time the company has unveiled a number of leading-edge innovations in its industry, formed partnerships with major technology suppliers in specialist fields and acquired a number of companies that have complemented its core solutions. The Group continues to grow in financial strength and stability at a rate that has gained acclaim and awards in markets across the world.

*AVEVA was founded in 1967 and was known as Cadcentre until 2001, when it became AVEVA.

2006

  • The Group announces record end-of-year results, with turnover of £65.9 million and profits of £13.9 million.
  • AVEVA celebrates the 30th anniversary of its world-leading PDMS.
  • Hilary Wright appointed Group HR Director.

2005

  • The Group announces turnover of £57.5 million and profits of £10.7 million.
  • RealityWave, Inc., creators of VizStream technology, is acquired for £3.2 million.
  • VANTAGE Marine 11.6, an advanced solution combining the best of VANTAGE PDMS and Tribon is launched.

2004

  • AVEVA acquires Tribon Solutions AB, the world's most successful shipbuilding solutions company, following a placing and open offer to raise £19m.
  • The Global ISEIT world tour goes local with a record number of attendees.

2003

  • AVEVA's Cambridge headquarters are extended to house extra staff and development resources.

2002

  • AVEVA launches its Managed Services division to provide IT managed services to the process and power industries.
  • AVEVA Engineering IT announced as AVEVA's 3rd operating subsidiary and AVEVA Solutions the in-house R&D function.
  • 'Multimedia Super Corridor' status is awarded by the Malaysian Multimedia Development Corporation.

2001

  • Paul Taylor appointed Finance Director.
  • Cadcentre Group changes its name to AVEVA Group plc, reflecting increasing diversity in its products and services.
  • Offices are opened in Bangalore, India and Guangzhou, China.

2000

  • Cadcentre creates new sales division with responsibility for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America.
  • Cadcentre opens new offices in Malaysia and Singapore.
  • Acquisition of STEP-compliant Plant Information Management System.
  • ISEIT is launched in Florida.

1999

  • Cadcentre forms a strategic alliance with AEA Technology, assuming responsibility for all AEAT's plant design customers worldwide.
  • Cadcentre targets the front-end conceptual design market, announcing a strategic alliance with Microsoft VISIO.
  • Offices are opened in Japan and Korea.
  • Richard Longdon appointed as CEO.
  • Cadcentre acquires project management technology from Kvaerner, and engineering data management technology from a consortium of DuPont, Kvaerner and Merck.
  • The Group signs a USD1m services agreement with Halliburton Company.
   

1998

  • Cadcentre launches its industry-leading Review Reality visualisation system on Windows NT.
  • Cadcentre is honoured by the Smithsonian Institution for its work on the ground-breaking 'Virtual Plant' conceptual project. Virtual Plant is a finalist at the Computerworld Smithsonian awards.

1997

  • Cadcentre launches the Advanced Router for Piping, enabling designers to automatically route their entire pipe networks through PDMS.
  • Cadcentre launches HyperPlant, a revolutionary product for the global interrogation of plant data via the Internet or company Intranets.
  • Cadcentre celebrates its 30th anniversary.
  • Offices are opened in Australia and Norway.

1996

  • Cadcentre opens its Visual Engineering Centre, the first virtual reality centre dedicated to managed services for the process and power industries.
  • Offices are opened in Hong Kong and Paris.
  • PDMS evolves onto Windows™ NT.
  • Cadcentre Group plc is floated on the London Stock Exchange with a market capitalisation of £36m.

1994

  • A Management Buy Out is funded by 3i and the University Group.
  • Crispin Gray becomes Chief Executive.

1993

  • A second US office opens in Delaware.

1992

  • PDMS becomes available on graphics workstations, as Cadcentre pioneers the interactive design of process plants in full colour-shaded 3D.
  • Cadcentre GmbH opens in Frankfurt, Germany.

1988

  • Cadcentre launches REVIEW, a revolutionary product enabling users to 'walk through' a computer model of a process plant and visualise it in 3D.

1985

  • Cadcentre opens its first overseas office in Houston, Texas.

1983

  • Cadcentre becomes a private, limited company. PDMS available on Minicomputer systems.

1976

  • Cadcentre's Plant Design Management System (PDMS) launched at ACHEMA.

1967

  • Based in Cambridge to exploit links with the University, Cadcentre was funded by the UK government to introduce and promote computers in engineering to British Industry.
