AVEVA Hull Weld Planning 12.0
High-precision welding information for work content calculations
and input to welding robot systems
The welding of steel structures is a major part of ship construction. AVEVA Hull Weld Planning maximises the efficiency of this work.
Business Benefits
- Better production planning
AVEVA Hull Weld Planning lets you compare the costs of alternative strategies.
- Efficient use of resources
Accurately calculate welding content and space requirements for efficient use of workshops and labour.
- Minimise labour costs
Use AVEVA Hull Weld Planning to create input for welding robots.
Key Features
- Automatic recalculation
AVEVA Hull Weld Planning uses the assemblies and production breakdown structure created in AVEVA Assembly Planning. So if the assembly structure is changed, the welds can be easily recalculated. This lets you compare the costs of alternative hull assembly strategies.
- Powerful analysis functions
AVEVA Hull Weld Planning determines the position of the weld (uphand or downhand), as well as its exact trace, which depends on the connected parts in the assembly.
The calculation of welds first defines the joints in the assembly. Then the number of welds in each joint, the number of layers of welding, the weld leg length and the total length of welding for the joint are all calculated, using company welding rules and the orientation of the assembly.

- Selective analysis
Welds can be calculated for one specific assembly, or for all assemblies in the production breakdown structure below a selected assembly.
Calculated welds can be edited to add or change properties such as weld position, size, process, test procedure and comments.
- Reporting
A customisable weld report can be created, listing all the joints and welds in an assembly, and all their properties.
- Automation output
Assembly and weld trace geometry information for robot welding systems can be extracted with the use of AVEVA Robot Interface 2.
